I love this! And I so relate to being the mom making the creative things at the 11th hourā¦ the Halloween my oldest was five, he was obsessed with Voltron: Legendary Defender, and so I busted my butt making him a Pidge costume for Halloween. I swore off making Halloween costumes after that, but he sure loved that one.
Ahhhh! The homemade Halloween costume! Ambitious AF! Applause for you and for that moment of sheer joy you created for your oldest. Also, big applause for swearing the homemade costume off after that!! š¤£
So funny! Absolutely Tina Fey vibes. And I know you so well and can just imagine everything you did to make it happen and laughed out loud at the chaos but also got a little teary when thinking of how much you do for you kids and what a good mama you are!
Remember the princess party for your 7th birthday? And your brotherās pirate party? Good memories for both me, your dad AND the kids. Good on you Alexis! You a rock star mama!!
I was thinking of the pirate party the WHOLE TIME. So much more appreciation for what you must have been feeling with each new stage of my kids. Suoer mom begets super mom. Xoxo
Alexis, this is so fun!! Honestly, I am the same when it comes to these kinds of projects; I LOVE that you did it, that it was worth it, despite the chaos.
We (my eldest son will be 4 in August) got really into pretending to be knights with Stuart Gibbs' ONCE UPON A TIM series. DORY FANTASMAGORY has spurred SO much imaginative play. And now, THE WILD ROBOT is everything. We are geese, we are robots, our baby brother is Chitchat the squirrel.
Always creating my own chaos!! Thank you for the kind words and excellent recommendations! I havenāt heard of Once Upon a Tim but I cannot wait to check it out as it looks right up our alley and Iām looking for a new bedtime chapter book read!
Iāve heard such great things about The Wild Robot, so thatās on my list for sure. Dory also looks so cute and sweet. Thank you thank you!! Love anything that sucks us all into its world. Weāve been in Narnia a lot lately, and also the Wings of Fire dragons? But Iām feeling the battles are a bit much for their ages (5&3) but my son is pretty engaged.
Hahaha Iām chortling. This post is giving off Tina Fey Moms vibes and I AM HERE FOR IT! š
Yessssss, the ultimate compliment is receiving your chortle!!!! Being compared to Tina Fey?! I meanā¦.blush!
Seeing the cover of Paper Bag Princess instantly brought back some sweet childhood memories for me!
Same!! I was so happy to stumble on it at the library š and to find out it holds up!!
