Thank you for the shoutout! And your awesome jet pack predicament 😂

The Lioness series was one of my first forays into fantasy as a young teen and I have been extremely fond of Tamora Pierce ever since. BUT, what do you think [SPOILER AHEAD] of Alanna and George?

SPOILER CONT you know, I accept it. The age difference is like….what it is, but I do like that he didn’t ever want to make her into anything other than what she was always. And that he is Robin Hood adjacent in character and heart. Like he isn’t written as a savior character or anything but a willing partner. That’s my take away. What are your thoughts?

I just realized it’s similar (but different) to how I feel about the men jn the Finlay Donovan series…they are present and I suppose she will probably pick one. But also, they are sideline to her and her life so any choice feels sort of disappointing.

Plus, a part of my wanted the Prince? Is that ingrained in me by my Disney and social world upbringing? Likely yes. Maybe I’m mad that part of me roots for Jonathon because he is kinda the biggest denier of Alanna’s true self. BUT that’s also probably why I root for him, because I want the story arch that shows character change since that is what makes a good story.

Anyway, you wanted a novella for an answer, right?

My book club discussions always help me really think through what worked in a book or didn't-- a big reason I love them!

Also to be completely honest, I prefer your old format with the books broken up into categories 🙈 It's easier for me visually as well as to jump to what interests me most. But I totally understand if the longform style works better for you!

I can’t wait to discuss more books in book club! What is a club favorite book you’ve read recently?

I love your honest feedback so much! It totally makes sense that visually cataloging the books is easier for the content I am creating, and I lean toward creating it that way most of the time. Who knows what December’s recap will bring! Only time will tell.

We had a really great discussion on Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro! And surprisingly everyone seemed to like it too.

Finlay is a lot of fun! You'll like the novella. I enjoyed seeing more of Vero's backstory.

I want to start the Finley Donovan series and will give it a go as my first books to read in 2025!

"Elf" is still my favorite must see movie for the Holiday Season. Also for pure nostalgia, "It's A Wonderful Life" and it always make me smile when my oldest son insists we all watch together on Christmas Eve. Enjoy FAMILY and the Holidays, despite the chaos, which never really changes no matter the age and stage.

I like this format—it felt like catching up with a friend about books! I laughed about your book club meeting. I also have been wanting to read Finlay Donovan for a long time. Do you like listening to them or reading in hand?

Great question! I’ve read them all on kindle so far and that has been excellent, but if you are an audiobook pro I think these would be perfect for audio. Lots of action to keep you engaged and the narrator is a pro with quite a few titles under her belt. I can imagine the kids voices might be a bit jarring, but they are side characters in a way that my children are not (ha) so you may not hear much of them! If you listen let me know how it goes!!

Thanks!! I’ll report back. Also, even after reading your post this am I still decided to tackle getting the tree, bringing it into the house, and putting on the lights by myself with the help of my two tiny (impatient and opinionated) sidekicks. Fairly quickly into having to restring the second strand of lights which ultimately ended up being half dead despite checking them all before beginning, I also wondered if this is why egg nog was created 😂😅🎄
