Three-year-olds are monsters. When my eldest was three, it's as if she'd been bodysnatched by aliens. It was alarming. Our daycare provider, who had 40 years of experienced and was my parenting guru for a decade, used to tell me that whoever came up with "the terrible twos" hadn't had a three-year-old yet. Godspeed, friend.

Totally agree! Take it from a mom of three and grandmother of six. Just remember the adage from MY mother that she repeated quite often...."This too shall pass"..... :-)

So true! Threes were way harder than twos in my humble opinion!

last night my 5 year old was sobbing into his bowl of chili saying the chili was "too sad tasting" for him to possibly eat it

Bahahaha. Noooooo! That’s too funny and weird. Feeding kids is the constant struggle, but that is a whole new tactic.

This post made me laugh so hard only because I have been there! I feel for you. It is such a challenging age. Keeping the humor was the only thing that got me through (and early bedtimes when we could swing it!!). My oldest, when he was 3 no less, went through an elephant phase. Strictly No Elephants was a favorite❤️

It’s such a sweet and fun book. Totally a shelf worthy find!! So happy to have you laughing and reminiscing. It is an absurd age!! One has to keep laughing to keep their cool.

Cheeto is so cute!!! Dogs really are the best. Ours is 11 so our kids have grown up right along with her and I love it ❤️

That’s so sweet! What kind of dog do you have? Do the kids help out with the dog?

She's a rescue lab pitbull. The kids feed and give her water every day. We have a fenced yard & since she's older she can't do as many walks, but my husband walks her almost every day (since she's big the kids can't do that).

She sounds perfect. I love a lab mix and pit bulls are such great family dogs.

I just burst into laughter! Thanks for the laugh (also in deep 3 year old territory). Two was a goddamn pleasure compared to the insanity that is three. And I LOOOVE Strictly No Elephants.

Right? I feel like I hear more and more people recognizing that 3 is when the real trouble begins! Glad you got a laugh out of it

All I can say is yes...I have a 3 year old--so yes to it all. And we love Strictly No Elephants!

The amount of times I have to exaggerate how hard I’m staring at her to see her doing whatever she’s doing is just…next level. So little sense happens at 3! Strictly No Elephants is the cutest and my son offhandedly said he would make a club anyone could join and it was book lessons in real life action. 💗

My 3-year-old is still in the needs a nap but won't take a nap and then falls asleep at 5 p.m. EVERY DAY and then wakes up and is an actual monster phase. You're right... it's hard! But also this morning his Nana was helping him learn French (to be just like me) and I started my day with him yelling BONJOUUU at me. Hang in there! In it together.

Noooo! 5pm naps aren’t good for anyone. Mine will nap in the car. For example I have to get groceries today but now we are dangerously close to the sleep hour, which I sort of do on purpose so she will nap and I will get to sit in the quiet and listen to an audiobook.
