This was so brilliant! I think you hit on every single thought we (the collective) have ever had on the advancement of technology. It's so easy to roll our eyes at the old days where technology didn't exist but surely back then someone, somewhere was really worried about what it all meant for humans. I personally love what Beth Spencer is doing for creatives: creating badges that say "Made with Human Intelligence." I'm not sure how much to fear AI or how much to welcome it. But it's here and it probably isn't going anywhere.
Ooof, you gave lots to think about here. I’ve been extremely resistant to *most* things AI and don’t yet know if I want/how to approach it with more curiosity and openness! For the record, your newsletter and writing obviously sounds much more personal and lively than any old Robot! 🤖
Also, I like that you reviewed “Have You Seen My Dragon?” — it’s one that was so precious to me I covered it in this post too:
I also lean far toward resisting all things AI! But it was fun to unpack that while writing and researching this newsletter. And even if it is the evil robot, it’s a bit of fun to play with.
Your cover of Have You Seen my Dragon is soooo cool! And the other books in that post look simply delicious. I can’t wait to find them and check them out. Isn’t thrifting books just the best way to go? I’m never disappointed at the Goodwill, even if it means I’m on the ground in front of the books rifling through for the treasures.
What an interesting post and perspective on AI. As someone that still likes to keep my awareness of the upcoming tech trends but not coming too close, I find it a fascinating albeit frustrating and scary time. I wasn't aware of the backlash about the Google commercial which I did see and thought to myself, it loses the "voice" and the charm for an actual little person to write something "personal" to her athletic idol. The authenticity is gone and that part makes me sad and angry. I want to look up the article you mentioned about the 2 pieces of writing to see if I could pick out the AI article vs the real one. I love your reviews of the books in your authentic voice MUCH more than the AI generated reviews as they are REAL and in your own voice. And I LOVE the review about the kissing hands. I hope that was published after y'all went to school or you KNOW I would have used that little sweet way to send you to school each morning!
The article should be linked so you can read it!! And then let me know which one you picked. I wasn’t familiar with the author, so that might have been part of the reason? I’d love to hear your perspective on all the things!!

Exactly! Mixed emotions but also, here it is!
