I was so bored by the live-action version but you're right-- it's because it's the EXACT SAME. Word for word. We need one or the other, not both. I'm fine with either option!

Totally! I feel like if I’d recently sat to watch the original or even fully watched the remake I would have felt bored as well! Both are cute but it’s a weird remake since the original didn’t come out long enough before for the new one to be for those truly nostalgic, like the Disney remakes that span the years. But if they had made it live-action on first take the CGI would have probably been way less advanced and way less cool.

I love that dragon metaphor. I believe we could probably get rid of the self-help section and just hang in the children's section? That is probably not a great thing for me to say as I write about self-help-y topics.

It’s where all my best aha moments have happened!! That being said, I’d still read your self help book!

Thanks for the recommendation and I hope to watch the live action movie tonight with the boys - as I will be watching the whole pack tonight! They have seen the animated one, so hopefully they will enjoy this one even more. I'll report back. :-)

"There's No Such Thing As A Dragon"-- yes! That's a keeper!! Great example of how illustrations can take a children's book to a whole new level.

FWIW: I can't think of a single case where a live-action version has topped the original cartoon/animation version of a story.
